President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan was hospitalized recently after experiencing health complications. On March 31, 2025, he was transferred from Nawabshah to a private hospital in Karachi due to complaints of fever and an infection. Subsequent medical evaluations revealed that President Zardari, aged 69, had tested positive for COVID-19.

Dr. Asim Hussain, the president's physician, confirmed the diagnosis

and stated that Zardari was placed in isolation with continuous health monitoring. He mentioned, "A team of experts is taking care of the president and his condition is improving." 

Prior to his hospitalization, President Zardari had traveled to Nawabshah to offer Eid prayers and had engaged in meetings with party leaders. His transfer to Karachi for treatment was deemed a prudent decision by his medical team. 

In the days following his admission, Dr. Hussain provided updates indicating that the president's health was on the mend. He noted that recent blood tests showed positive signs and that specialists from the infectious diseases department were examining Zardari three times daily. Due to COVID-19 precautions, visits were restricted, but the president's family received regular health updates.

By April 3, reports suggested that President Zardari was recovering well and might be discharged within a few days.

Dr. Hussain expressed optimism about the president's recovery, emphasizing the effectiveness of the ongoing treatment and the decision to move him to Karachi. 

This hospitalization is not the first health challenge President Zardari has faced in recent years. In July 2022, he tested positive for COVID-19 but experienced only mild symptoms. Later, in October 2024, he suffered a foot fracture while deboarding an airplane, which required immediate medical attention and resulted in his foot being placed in a cast.
